For Elliot, cooking has always been more than just making dinner — it’s a passion, a hobby and a way to bring people together. Wanting to expand his cooking skills and create the ultimate outdoor entertaining space, he knew a wood-fired oven was the next step in his cooking journey.

After researching premium pizza ovens, Elliot chose the JA80 Tiled Mushroom from Jalando Pizza Ovens.

“I was looking for premium quality and Jalando had exactly what I was after,” he said.

Today, Elliot’s outdoor kitchen has become the heart of his home, with the pizza oven acting as the centrepiece whenever friends and family come over.

“It’s the reason people come around,” Elliot explains.

While pizza is always a favourite — often using dough from a local pizza shop — Elliot has pushed far beyond traditional wood-fired cooking. From roasted meats and vegetables to crispy duck fat potatoes, the oven has opened up endless possibilities.

Already passionate about outdoor cooking, Elliot also owns a smoker and regularly cooks wild boar, pulled pork, chicken and a variety of smoked meats. One of his favourite combinations is using the smoker and pizza oven together.

“I’ll smoke pulled pork in the smoker, then transfer it to the pizza oven on a pizza,” he said.

For Elliot, the experience has been about much more than cooking. Learning how to cure the oven taught him how to properly use wood-fired heat and better understand the cooking process. Combined with tips from a chef friend, it’s helped build his confidence and skills over time.

“Don’t shortchange on quality — do your research,” Elliot says when asked what advice he’d give others considering a pizza oven.

Another standout part of the experience was the support from the Jalando team.

“The staff were fantastic and really helpful throughout the whole process.”

For Elliot, outdoor cooking is something he sees as a lifelong journey — and investing in quality equipment was an important part of that.

“I wanted quality, and now I have it.”

Our JA70 tiled ovens weigh approximately 360kg. The JA80 are approximately 800kg.

Yes, absolutely. For a JA80 sized oven you will need to undertake 4-5 slow and low cures.

Yes, because the oven is large, it takes longer to heat up but it also retains its heat overnight so you can keep cooking in it the next day without adding much fuel.
