Oven Roasted Chestnuts - 1

INGREDIENTS

  • 1kg shell-on chestnuts

INSTRUCTIONS

  • With a sharp knife, score a deep X in the husk in the side of the nut to keep them from exploding in the oven.
  • Place in a wood fired oven-safe pan.
  • Roast for 10-12 minutes at 260 degrees or until you start seeing the flesh turn a dark brown.
  • Let them cool slightly and then remove the husks.

NOTES

  • It is easier to remove the husks when the nuts are still warm
  • Some people soak their chestnuts in water before roasting. This is an optional step.
  • Chestnuts go really well with a glass of port or some Nutella pizza.
